FutureHouse Automation Systems Philosophy
The goal of FutureHouse is to
create truly intelligent automation systems. We accomplished by:
- Integration of all electrical devices into a common
framework
- Acquire real-time information using
hundreds of sensors
- Control devices based on assumptions
- Design controls and software for ease of use
- Never add more steps than what would be required
without automation
- Allow operation of basic house functions in the event
of system failure
What we Do
FutureHouse provides design, build, consultation
and implementation services for home and business automation. It all
starts with performing an assessment of your automation needs. From the
assessment we will provide a design plan that includes:
- Automation product choices
- Wiring plans
- Control panel requirements
- Sensor placements
- Switch types, functions and placement
- Sound system design (microphones, speakers and amplifiers)
- Infrared controller types, placement and functions
- Software requirements
- Custom circuit requirements
- Programming
- Peripheral device options (cameras, blinds, locks, mechanical)
- Cost of materials
- Installation labor cost
- Maintenance requirements
In some cases you may already have automation and wish to make
improvements. Or you may want to design an automation system from ground
up. In either case FutureHouse can provide design plans for your
contractor or perform installation services for you.
Electronic Designs
In addition to planning and installation,
FutureHouse designs and builds components such
as:
- Control panels for AC
distribution
- Control panels logic boards
for digital input output
- Power supplies distribution
panels
- Custom circuit boards
- Device drivers
- Programming
History
FutureHouse
remote house concept started in the mid 70's as a result of the desire to
centrally control lighting and mechanical appliances. Many features have
been added over the years such as security processes, automatic blind
controls, automatic lawn watering, multi-location lighting control,
motorized pet access doors, water and smoke detection and mood lighting
control. The list goes on and on. The technology used has been consistently
updated every several years.
The original system was run from a Atari
400 gaming computer and has evolved to a Intel based computer that runs
.NET software that can
be accessed from any remote console including web browsers. The current
system installed in the creators house controls all 128 AC outlets and
ceiling lights and can be expanded to several hundred additional devices. The
sensory capabilities
include over 192 sensors that are scanned over 80 times a second. The types of sensors include Infra red,
sound, contact,
moisture, smoke and ambient light.
The heart of the system uses a custom designed
controller that provides hardwired access to all devices and sensors. This
method was chosen over FM and wireless methods which are prone to EMF interference,
limited capacity, high cost and limitation to the types of appliances that
can be controlled.
